This is a two-part newsletter. This first part is a special edition to announce and introduce our new BVCMS team. The second part to come later this week, will be our standard newsletter with system related News and Announcments.

Meet the BVCMS Team!

We are so pleased to introduce you to our expanded team! We have finally decided to make a big push with BVCMS and take this product to the next level. Our goal is to reach 1,000 churches in the next several years! Since March of this year, we have been looking to expand our staff with more programming, support, marketing and bookkeeping. You are about to meet an outstanding team totally committed to bring you, the BVCMS churches, the best support and help to be found anywhere.

Steven Yarbrough

Steven has worked with computer hardware, software, networking and programming for over 20 years. Born here in Memphis, Tennessee, he and his family are active members of Bellevue Baptist Church. He joined the BVCMS team on the 21st of May as a Developer.

We have been looking for a programmer across the country with the kind of skills and productivity we needed and finally found that person right here in Memphis and at our own church nonetheless! Actually the Lord just delivered him to our doorstep without our even trying! Steven is not only an outstanding programmer with tons of experience, but he is a real workhorse. He has already turned out our Android App, the Email Templates project, our QuickBooks integration, and many other new features. Expect great things from the BVCMS development team as we work to make your jobs easier and give you the tools to make your ministry more effective.

Bethany McCoy

Bethany recently moved back to Memphis, where she is returning to her home church, Bellevue Baptist, to work for BVCMS. She is a graduate of Samford University, with a major in English and a minor in Computer Science and comes to BVCMS with a background in IT Support. She has worked both in business and Christian education over the past four years. She loves teaching others how to use technology and software effectively and enjoys seeing them use it to make their lives easier and minister to others.

We are very proud of Bethany and her ability to work so well with our clients. We have already seen her put our clients at ease and go the extra mile to help them with their support questions. She will be providing training, support, bookkeeping, and some application development for BVCMS. Her experience, competence, attention to detail and desire to do things by the book have already helped us a great deal.

Kyle McCoy

Kyle is originally from Chattanooga and has a family background in ministry. He is a graduate of Samford University and recently completed his Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Kyle has experience in team and organizational development, performance management, as well as training development and facilitation. He will focus on business development and analytical support. Kyle looks forward to helping churches use BVCMS to do ministry effectively.

We are so glad to have Kyle on board, not only because of the skills and experience he brings, but also because of his willingness and eagerness to learn new things. As a small company with a lot of big company needs spanning both technology and knowledge of how people work and learn, we know that Kyle will and already has delivered great value to BVCMS. Kyle will be helping our new churches understand and learn about BVCMS and helping our existing churches with areas of BVCMS that they have not yet been able to utilize.

Melissa Downing

Since 2001, Melissa has been a follower of Jesus Christ. She is a graduate of the University of Memphis. She spent fourteen years working in the air transportation industry. The last seven years Melissa has worked for a well-established Church Management Software development company. During that time, she has visited over 450 churches in America and met many God-fearing people. She recently joined the BVCMS team and will serve as needed.

Melissa brings to BVCMS a wealth of experience in our specific industry. Her wisdom, coupled with her humble spirit and a great work ethic have already proven valuable to us. She loves to help churches use technology to minister to their congregations and reach their world for Christ. Melissa knows what the typical church needs in a Church Management System and will be helping our new churches understand and learn about BVCMS and helping our existing churches with areas of BVCMS that they have not yet been able to utilize. She will be a great ambassador for BVCMS.

Karen Worrell

Karen is employed by Bellevue Baptist Church as their Systems Administrator and has worked with BVCMS since its inception. She served in the role of business analyst as this software was being written and continues to play that role in addition to providing training, testing and documentation of the system. She has served on staff in churches for the past nineteen years, the last sixteen at Bellevue. Her various jobs have ranged from Coordinator in Education Ministry to Finance Director and several jobs between. This has provided her with a unique opportunity to know the workings of a church from many different viewpoints. Karen brings to BVCMS that experience and her passion to make software a ministry tool, not just a management tool.

Karen's knowledge, experience, dedication and contributions to this project have been invaluable. She is very much a core member of our team even though she is employed by Bellevue. Karen's dedicated support of the BVCMS project is one of the most significant parts of Bellevue's gracious gift to help other churches using BVCMS.

David Carroll

David is the owner of and the chief developer of BVCMS, the open source project. He has been writing software for 35 years. Having developed two successful, enterprise-scale software projects in his business career, he sold his company and semi-retired in 2003. However, God wasn’t finished with his development skills yet and brought him out of retirement in 2008 to work on BVCMS for the church. David was a Life Group teacher for 10 years, a deacon, has been on many mission trips, led small groups, and taught Creation Science courses.

David's experience as a lay leader and teacher in the church, coupled with his knowledge of software, along with the experience of this team, allow us to truly say that "BVCMS was built by the church, for the church, by members of the church." His goal is to see BVCMS become a valuable tool helping thousands of churches minister the Gospel around the world.

There is still much to do with this product, and the addition of this team will free up much of David's time to dedicate to adding great new features and making existing features even easier to use.

Karen and I both are grateful for this team's confidence in us and in BVCMS to help us deliver the best product and support in the industry. Their trust in the Lord and love of the Church are key components of a team that you can trust. We know you will be pleased as you work with this BVCMS team.
